Optimized and High-Resolution Files for Logo Packages

In a presentation recently I talked about the optimized and high-resolution image files that are important for a logo package. Having a variety of files and file sizes will be crucial to marketing for those business owners who want to capture leads and get a return on their investment. Print and web require different files, and it is a designer’s job to provide a full set for the many needs of a business.

On your website, a 300ppi file that is more than 2000 pixels wide will definitely slow the download speed of your pages. It only takes a couple of seconds for a user to decide whether to stay or go. If the files take long to load, it is likely they will make a judgment call and leave. It is better to use web-optimized files that are 900 pixels wide or less for the internet. For example, a Favicon, the little tiny that shows in the webpage tab can be under 50 pixels.

For print, high-resolution files and vector files are what the printer often asks for. I provide an Illustrator or Photoshop PDF file in most packages of the main logo. I also provide large jpg and png files that can be used for business cards and brochures.

SVG files are vector-based files that are used on the web and in apps. This format is not widely used yet, but I want to be forward-thinking for my clients so that in a few years when SVG becomes more mainstream, they will have the files they need.

I hope this helps you understand what a good logo package looks like. Please connect with me for a free consultation to see if your files are sufficient.
